Right Dorsal Displacement
Although of unknown cause, could influence its appearance hypomotility or hypermotility states of intestinal gas accumulation, which would allow abnormal movements of segments of the colon.

There is a shift of the left colon to the right of cecum, between this and the right abdominal wall. The pelvic flexure is shifted to the right and begins to move toward the sternum. The right colon is oriented transversely across the pelvic inlet. In other cases the left colon can move directly from its normal position to be placed around the base of the cecum, keeping to the right of it. The pelvic flexure reaches the sternum, but the direction of movement is opposite to the previous (offset medial dorsal flexion right).
The signs range from continuous pain intractable pain, while its intensity related to the degree of distension for gas and mesentéreo tension. In cases of great distention may occur respiratory acidosis.
On rectal examination right colon is oriented transversely in the inlet of the pelvis and edema can be palpated in the wall thereof. This type of colic requiring surgical correction, with the favorable prognosis in uncomplicated cases.
Left Dorsal Displacement (Nefroesplénic Entrapment)
The cause is also unknown, although most horses have a deep cleft between the spleen and left kidney, an anatomical peculiarity that may predispose to disease.
Is the result of the status of the left dorsal colon in the cleft formed by the adjacent the nefroesplénic ligament hanging different portions of colon flexure pelvic ligament
