The differential diagnosis will be based on the anatomical diagnosis and evaluation of signs and medical history. The five groups of lesions are: malformation, inflammation, neoplasia, degeneration and trauma. The distribution of lesions that occur in certain diseases can often lead to a presumptive diagnosis. The most comprehensive assessment of patients with complementary techniques to determine the cause or confirm the diagnosis depends on the differential diagnosis anatomical we have imposed.

The results of the neurologic examination should always be written down or recorded and never try to be remembered for later evaluated and that subtle changes can alter the prognosis and course of treatment.
