NECK RADIOLOGY Visualized structures -Laryngeal and pharyngeal region (guttural pouch) -Cervical vertebrae -Trachea -Esophagus

Technique and Projections We use a simple technique or contrast (myelography) for study of the cervical spine. The projection that gives more information is laterolateral. Myelography can only be done under general anesthesia. For the esophagus also may be contrast techniques with barium sulfate as plain radiography for the larynx, pharynx, esophagus and trachea. Diagnostic utility Fractures of the cervical vertebrae. Atlanto-axial dislocation and atlanto-occipital. Cervical vertebral instability Osteoarthritis, infectious arthritis and osteomyelitis. Discospondylitis and bone cysts. vertebral malformations Guturalitis. (empyema, bleeding, bloating) Epiglottic entrapment. Dystrophic calcification of the larynx. Chondroma in the laryngeal region. Congenital malformation of the trachea and fluttering. Extratraqueales masses. Megaesophagus, esophageal obstruction and perforation
